It’s some brazilian technique and I have never been happier. In the past, my hair wouldn’t grow longer than one length (get it cut, more split end, cut again = vicious cycle). Urs saved me! my hair is almost to my butt and I only need a cut/burn every 6 months now 🙂 Erica is also a very big sweetie!

The best place in Vancouver for Cold cuts ( flame cut) and thermal cuts. My hair was transformed within 1 week: from lifeless to healthy, shiny and soft. Because the split ends got sealed, my hair is also getting thicker. I am not sure how I managed to live untill now with plain scissor haircuts that have no acctual benefit to hair health. The owner is an artist with 20+ years of experience. They also carry a huge selection of European, botanical, high end hair products that are not available locally ex PHYTO.

Urs & Erika have been taking care of my hair for years (even pre Tango, bless him, who has now passed on).  Previously loathed going to hair salons but the atmosphere in the shop is so friendly and not pretentious in the least.  Urs does the only cut I have ever had which is truly wash & wear, does not require gobs of product to control and can go straight from pillow to work without a thought.  You are getting years of training, experience and on going training with both Urs and Erika.  They do not sell products they don’t believe in.   If you ask for an opinion, you will get an honest one.  I don’t even bother looking in the mirror (well, we’re having too much fun talking) as I know Urs will do what is best for my hair, face shape, all the variables.  Trust them both completely, what more can one say?

Urs is the first stylist in 40 odd years that comes through on his promises! I asked for stylish wash and wear hair and he delivered. No more struggling with bed head, run my fingers through it and I’m out the door. And my hair has never been in better condition, wouldn’t dream of using anything but his recommendations again. I’ve been happy to recommend Strands to friends – great staff, great treatment, great products and always a fun experience

I had the velatheraphia (the flame haircut) done for the first time here, and I’m thrilled with the results. Urs and Erika make a fantastic team, and with their humor and expertise, I felt quite comfortable, which is quite important when you’re setting your hair on fire! I am feeling so much gratitude that I have found Erika & Urs at Strands Hair & Skin Treatment. They have a quaint salon in trendy Gastown and they are both so down to earth and talented. I got a flame haircut by Urs and it “Rocks OUT LOUD”… my hair looks amazing with no split ends… I finally found a way to get rid of them as I have very long hair… Last month Erika did a Brazilian Blowout on my hair and the results were just as amazing… please, please try them out… you will never go anywhere else, promise!

I first came to Strands because a friend/co worker said Urs was “the best”. I had had chemo for a year about a year & a half before & my hair was growing in darker. I had decided to put “sun in” on it & it was a disaster! I was reluctant to get it cut because I had been “without hair” for so long-my friend Maggi said I should try Urs- he was really good& a great person & would  be understanding of my situation- he was! I’ve been here ever since.

I appreciate so much the commitment to natural products at Strands. I’m confident that whatever treatment I receive will only make me better!

I love when Erika is at the shop – she can always suggest a lipstick that will be perfect or show you how to shine for the Christmas party!
